The Basics of Working Together
Q & A
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE FIRST SESSION?
During the first session we will review any questions you have about my practice policies and discuss what made you want to come to therapy. I will ask questions about your past, present and future including your relationships, career, education and health status so I can get a better picture of where you are coming from, where you want to go and how I can help. I will do my best to share with you some immediate strategies that you can start using to help alleviate any emotional discomfort you may be experiencing. We will decide if working together seems like a good fit and if so, we will schedule a follow up appointment to further discuss specific goals that you would like to set and a pathway for that to happen so you can start feeling better as soon as possible.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENTS DO I ACCEPT?
I currently accept the following insurances: Anthem, Cigna, and Medicaid (Husky). If I accept your insurance you will be responsible for your co-payment or deductible payment at the time of service. I accept cash, check and credit/debit card.
If I do not accept your insurance I encourage you to check with your insurance company to find out if you have “out-of-network benefits” that can cover the cost of mental health expenses. To assist in this process, I offer clients what’s called a “superbill” to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I submit insurance paperwork free of charge. Please note that utilizing insurance means that some of your protected health information will be share with insurance companies in order for therapy to be covered. If you wish for your therapy to be completely confidential you may wish to invest in your health by paying privately or "out of pocket".
WHAT ARE ERICA'S APPOINTMENT POLICIES?
Both of our time is very valuable. The time that you schedule an appointment with me is dedicated specifically for you. As a private practitioner, I do not generate income if I am not seeing a client. Therefore, if you do not show for a scheduled appointment or do not cancel within 48 hours you will be responsible for payment of my out of pocket rate, which is $150.00. If you provide me with at least 48-hours notice of an appointment cancellation, I will not charge you the missed appointment fee. If there is a pattern of rescheduling and missing appointments, we will discuss if continuing working together is appropriate or not.
WILL MY INFORMATION BE SHARED?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am legally and ethically required to keep your information and what you share in session completely confidential. Your privacy is the utmost importance to me. In emergency situations, such as if you are in danger of harming yourself or others, I am permitted to share your information with the appropriate people (ie: a mobile crisis unit or the police) in order to help keep you and others safe. If you choose to schedule an appointment with me, I will send you my consent paperwork, which includes more detail about the parameters of confidentiality and working together.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I CALL FOR MY FREE 10-MINUTE PHONE CONSULTATION?
Making the call to seek help is significant and I recognize that. When we initially speak over the phone, I will validate your decision to reach out for support. I will ask a few questions about what motivated you to contact me and we will briefly discuss any related details that you feel comfortable sharing with me. If you decide to schedule an appointment with me, I will gather some basic information in order to electronically send you access to your electronic confidential client portal. This portal will provide you access to my practice policies and consents to review prior to our first appointment.
