I believe that everyone's lived experience is unique and valuable, and that those experiences can have a profound impact on others when shared. The inspiration that clients feel when involved in group therapy is unmatched by any other therapeutic model. I strive to create a nurturing, comfortable, inclusive and compassionate group environment where each member is empowered to seek out support from others in order to have their individual needs met, as well as to provide encouragement and insight to the group as a whole. Sometimes, our unique lived experiences can feel isolating, and it is my goal to provide an opportunity for clients to interact with likeminded individuals with whom they can relate, and for that sense of isolation and aloneness to be minimized or eliminated through engagement in group therapy.
I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community across the lifespan, beginning in teenage years and through adulthood. I also enjoy working with loved ones of a member of the LGBTQIA+ community - specifically parents, partners and spouses - to help navigate those relational dynamics in successful, healthy ways. My goal is to create an affirming and inclusive environment for all clients. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and enjoy incorporating humor and a relaxed demeanor into group sessions to help foster a comfortable environment.
I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2015 with a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling. Since then, I have worked in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings in a behavioral health clinic, and have extensive experience working with teenagers and their families to assist in management of high-risk behaviors including self-injury, school truancy, probation involvement, and substance use. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at CCSU where I instruct courses on group dynamics in psychotherapy, and assessment, diagnosis and recovery planning.
I hope to be a part of your journey as you create and maintain a life worth living!
